Only to be used with cheap champagne...

From Trivia no Izumi:

#591:

If you put a raisin in champagne, the raisin will float up then back down, and float up again.

Recommended for the cheap stuff, not the Veuve Cliquot or Dom Perignon.

I just ordered a bottle of Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin Brut La Grande Dame for someone (not me). Should I have also ordered a box of raisins on the side?

Oh god no!

Veuve Cliquot is meant to be savored by itself, and not have any raisins or other dried fruit.
Blech :P

It's only for the cheap $2-3 stuff you find at Trader Joe's or stuff that would probably give you a headache if you did drink it.
